I have spent many years collecting and analyzing various Bible translations, and it was a major topic of discussion on my prior blog. Last week I was engaged in a conversation about versions that use the vocabulary and syntax of everyday English (here in the Ozarks). I found myself making the defense of the New Living Translation (NLT) as the best version for this purpose, even though it is not my favorite translation of the Bible. During conversation it occurred to me that I have not actually read entire Bible in the NLT, and so I’ve resolved to attempt to read the entire NLT by the end of the year. I’ve got a checklist and have been diligently pecking away at my reading. I need to read about 15 chapters a day to complete my goal.
