Valentine’s Day this year is important. As part of a general trend in my life, I’m trying to take things more seriously, and be more grown up about things. So this year I brought my A game. A personal love note, a stylish G-2 pen for my wife in her favorite colors, and a small-ish poetry collection, have a look:
I have been unable to post some poetry so far because all of the books I have been wanting to quote from have been waiting for their gifting today. If you are curious, they are the Everyman’s Library Pocket Poets. I haven’t counted how many there are, but I picked up most of them used for a penny, plus shipping on Amazon. I think it’s pretty awesome that a person can get books for a single cent, in a great format, and not to mention the all-important quality of the content inside the book itself. I can’t wait to delve into these, and have decided to start with Yeats, Frost, and Millay. Exciting!
Also, I got my children some fairy tales and nursery rhymes. These are also from the same publisher, but in a slightly larger format, and also in a used condition. There are a lot of stories I know from my own childhood, but many, many more that I am completely ignorant of. Add these to the books we have started reading our children already (the Bible, and C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia series).
